Our LEATHER OIL & LEATHER DRESSING are made from our "Pitch-Blend" combination of Pine Pitch and pure Mink Oil for the conditioning and preserving of rugged leather. (Our Natural Ingredients page will help explain our unique ingredients.)
Which one to choose: Oil or Dressing? Basically the only difference between our Leather Oil and Leather Dressing is that we blend natural beeswax into the Oil to create our Leather Dressing: a soft wax/paste .
The Leather Dressing will provide the highest water-repellency of the two products, so most customers choose depending on their climate and how much exposure to moisture/water/snow their leather goods will receive. If you want the highest water-repellency then choose the Dressing. If you live in a drier climate or are using the product on a leather item that isn't exposed to becoming wet, then choose the Leather Oil. The Leather Oil costs less per ounce, so you will get more product for your money, and it is very water-resistant to begin with, but it just doesn't have the natural beeswax in it.
Also, some customers simply choose based upon which "form" they prefer working with: a liquid oil or a paste. Some people prefer to use a paste, for example, that they have more "application control" over. Whereas others prefer the oil because they apply it using a cloth, sponge, or brush, so the liquid is actually better for their application.
Our LEATHER OIL SOAP is a handcrafted natural soap made specifically from our pine-pitch Leather Oil blended with a rich vegetal oil and made into a true liquid soap. It is made for cleaning soiled or stained leather prior to conditioning or reconditioning leather goods. It is not required when conditioning a new item or on a well-maintained clean surface.
